Group Project: Environment Artifact
This was a group project in which we had to design an artifact to represent the environment and aspects of a selected neighborhood in Pittsburgh. My group was assigned the neighborhood of Shadyside. We decided to focus on the central location of Shadyside as well as its strong sense of community, mainly through the various types of people who live there. Our artifact was a mosaic map of Shadyside that would be built by the neighborhood as a community at a semi-annual event. Residents would have the opportunity to decorate tiles with ‘what Shadyside means to them’ and see the pieces be placed in their respective locations in Shadyside. For our digital component, required by Part II, we created a virtual map and several pages to accompany it on the Shadyside website to provide additional information about Shadyside’s people and activities.
