Range Pole & Battery Pack Contact System
This contact system is used to power a GPS survey system. One mated pair connects the battery pack to the bottom of the range pole. One mated pair connects the top of the range pole to the GPS antenna. The fittings are machined aluminum and bonded into the carbon fiber tubes of the range pole and battery pack. The insulators are injection molded. The male contacts are off-the-shelf spring-loaded “pogo pin” style. The female contacts are custom designed, gold plated beryllium copper alloy. Water-proofing is accomplished via a ring of 3M VHB tape. This product was designed using Pro/Engineer.
