ONT 610

This is an optical network terminal (ONT) that I designed for AFC. This product was designed very quickly (about 8 weeks) concurrently with hardware engineers across the country. Mechanical aspects of this project included the following: sheet metal design, PCBA component keepouts and height restrictions, tolerance analysis, thermal simulation and design, connector selection and location, fibre and cable routing and management, EMI/RFI control, grounding, product labeling. This project was completed on time and allowed AFC to submit the product to Verizon’s lab for testing and evaluation within the specified time window for product acceptance. Mechanical design was performed in Pro/Engineer. Thermal design was performed in Flotherm computational fluid dynamics software.
