DMAX 1120 G-PON Card

This is a G-PON card used in AFC’s DMAX 1120 system. This card required a new faceplate design which allowed user access to SFP cages and fibre connections. Mechanical aspects of this project included the following: fibre management on the PCBA, cable/fibre management from the card to the telecom rack, mother to daughter board connector selection and placement, PCBA component keepouts and height restrictions, injection molded faceplate design, thermal simulation. This design was performed concurrently with hardware engineers. Mechanical design was performed in Pro/Engineer. Thermal design was performed in Flotherm computational fluid dynamics software.
