Food Court Crutches
Problem:
People on crutches have no free hands to carry food trays in the dining halls, have less balance, little mobility, and are less comfortable than they otherwise would be.
Need Justification:
Crutch-user interviews, observations in dining halls, online handicap blogs, state of the art not easy to use and expensive
Early Research/Brainstorms:
Tray with strap, clip-on Tupperware, specially-designed shoulder bag or belt, attachment that rolls behind the person
Final Design Description:
Bottom half of a Dartmouth to-go container with a rod and brass support underneath connecting it to the crutch and a nylon strap with Velcro to go over the top for extra support
Very stable, easy to use, light-weight, easy to attach/detach
Skills:
Need finding, early-phase prototyping
