This may be the first print ad ever created for Williamsburg Oils. A trade ad, concept was to eschew the cliché of European tradition and own an American (more explicity Brooklyn) identity among oil colors.
While we put our heart and soul into the paint, artists pour their souls out with it. This very simple ad let artists know we hadn't forgotten that.
