Wabi Chair - The Wabi Chair is a dual function piece inspired by the traditional Japanese Zaisu. My concept was to address the specific need of how chairs are used in the Japanese culture, and how it could be converted in format to be even more useful. The frame is stored under the seat when in the 'dining' position, and act as handles when propped in the 'easy' chair position. The Wabi chair is most suitable for confined spaces.
Plywood Chair - Curvature inspired the form of this chair and exaggerated features were used to emphasize this. The armrests are cherry laminations, and the back rest and seat are made from birch ply laminations. The back rest penetrates the seat and hovers above the floor. When the user sits, the seat flexes down to add comfort.
Side table - This side table is designed so that it can sit on various planes. The dip at the front is meant to be ornamental, as well as adding more dimension to the piece.
MAPA rings - MAPA are paper weights inspired by the filing system and the use of unconventional materials. The idea is to inspire the user to come up with new ways to use the objects. The materials used are Maple, Aluminum, Porcelain and Acrylic. They taper so that the rings can sit within one another.
