From my research into India's culture and history I discovered the Hastas (hand movements) and I decided this would look fantastic as one of our poses!
We used Chanel's 2012 Pre-Fall collection to inspire our styling and garment choices. The jewellery and garments were all hand made by my team. I love the colour palette of the fabrics as it makes them look luxurious and expensive - fitting well with the brief (edition for a high fashion magazine).
The Holi festival was hugely influential on our make-up; we used straws to blow the colourful, powder paint onto the models face to create this image. I managed to contact and arrange a beautician from Benefit to do the make-up for us!
From the flea market we discovered this gold antique tea set which we thought looked gorgeous as a prop parallel to this model pose.
When researching props I decided to research how people transport around India for inspiration, this was when I came across the idea of a moped/vespa and I was determined to find one and use it in our shoot! Therefore, I used my initiative to approach the owner of this earthy coloured vespa who was more than happy to let us borrow it!

World Styling

As a team we were set the role as an editorial stylist to come up with a World Fashion themed edition for a high fashion magazine. India was our inspiration and from this we decided to use their culture and festivals to visually communicate our country in an interesting, exciting and fashionable way!
