Centro de Difusión de la Cultura del Surf (Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Spain)_2015

My Degree Final Project (PFC) was located in the city of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, specifically in the peninsula of La Isleta, an area of coexistence (not always harmonious) of urban and natural landscape, land and sea, man and nature.
The chosen site is a point where all these situations meet: the gate between the city and the natural space, with a beach, El Confital, famous among surfers for the quality of its waves, that hosts international surf competitions. Given the lack of infrastructures in the island to satisfy the increasing demand of this activities, as well as the economic and social situation the neighbourhood around is going through, the project is proposed not only as a space to spread surf's rich culture, but also as an economic revulsive for the area which may attract users from distant points of the city or beyond, putting La Isleta on the map of sport and culture by bringing up its history and lifestyle in a rennovated form.
