n 1868 Charles M. Conlon was a proofreader at the New York Telegram when he began shooting pictures as a hobby. He took sports pictures and they were published in The Sporting News and The Spalding Guide. As he took his last photo in the 1940’s he was one of if not the most popular baseball photographers. His most famous photo being his “Ty Cobb” photo where it has Ty cobb sliding into third base.
