The Problem - It is widely assumed that Cerebral Palsy (CP) is a disease. It is not. CP is an umbrella term for a collection of chronic conditions that affects posture, movement and coordination. There is no cure for any of the three types of CP, but it is a non-progressive disorder meaning it does not get worse over time. CP affects approximately 1 in 400 children in the United Kingdom. In the US, the condition affects around 8000 infants and nearly 1500 pre-schoolers each year.

The Hero Board - There are many products that fulfil the task of helping a child with CP. However, these products all have the same issues including being an engineered solution, unattractive, demeaning and embarrassing. The new design will help protect the child while remaining a product they want to own and connect with. The final outcome is one that is 100% inclusive so that it was not bought just bought by children with Cerebral Palsy, but purchased by children without any condition as well as those that do.
