Incorporating wireless communications and 3D Ultrasound imaging capabilities, the "Portal" Fetal Imaging System facilitates communication and diagnostics between the maternity patient and medical professionals. Portal generates archivable images to be viewed on the device or "cast" to a TV or tablet or transmitted to a medical professional. The device also acts as a platform for questions or suggestions between doctor and patient while reducing office visits. Medical staff receive the ultrasound information accompanied by fetal and mother's heart rates for diagnosis. Such information can then be shared with specialists or additional medical staff. This project involved the development of an in-home, portable 3D Ultrasound imaging device to be used by mothers during pregnancy. I have explored the devices' interface, both physical and psychological, as well as the system required to convey information obtained by the imaging device to a pregnant patient's primary medical practitioner.
