Bird house

This birdhouse was made to fulfill the housing requirements of the Pied Barbet. This bird lives in a burrowed hole created on the underside of a leaning tree. The reason for this location is ingenious - water running down the tree will drip off before entering the hole and flooding his home. The design of the birdhouse makes visual reference to the angle of a leaning tree trunk by the dark horizontal strips that cascade the cylindrical nesting chamber. The birdhouse also needed to be build with a specific design style in mind. The design style that dictated the aesthetics of this birdhouse was from the Art Deco period and draws on classic architecture and prominent forms of its time.
