The park concept is a solar sanctum that celebrates the solar system, the sun, and the other stars in our galaxy. The town of Grand Valley, Ontario (Canada) is undergoing a major re-haul on Main Street South. It is in the heart of downtown and subject to major improvements in planting, paving, lighting, and furnishings.

To calm traffic, boulevards and formal on-street parking were added. The original street was highly hardscaped so planters, street trees, and a new parkette were added to soften the feel. Benches are provided in the park and throughout the main street with refuse containers and bike racks. Paving was added across the main street to provide a safe pedestrian crossing while new light standards were erected to increase night safety.

Mount Vernon, a ski resort in Vernon, New Jersey (USA), is proposing a new garage facility for snow removal vehicles. Prepare a working drawing set that includes a existing conditions, layout plan, grading plan, planting plan, and details.

This is the existing conditions plan given for the assignment. The exercise requires an east-west road without disturbing trees and with as little grading as possible. Storm water consideration include swales and a retention pond to accept road runoff. In addition, road details such as stationing points, a longitudinal profile, and a cross-section will be necessary.
