OBJECTIVE
Green washing, companies and products claiming to be green but aren’t, has become a major issue. Working in teams, chose a topic under the sustainability and second life and use the Living Principles as a guide to make it green.
SOLUTION
Recycling imperative to our future, yet since there is no immediate reward, many people don’t want to make an effort to pitch in. We created a system called NewCycle that uses a reloadable card that digitally tracks the +CRV from every can or bottle you recycle in the system. The +CRV points are converted into money, which recyclers can use to purchase new items. The card system is designed around a self sustained space saving machine that has the ability to handle recycling bottles, can, and glass without the need for a person to control it. The flexible placement of the units is meant to create convenience for the general population and inspire increased participation in recycling programs.
