Type-K1 & Type-K2
When we started this project we had a brief to create a device that could pick up a small object 5 feet away. We wanted to expand our skills creating solid mechanical functions, while maintaining a style that was rugged and durable. We used materials we thought would be rugged, elegant, and show off the durable tool like element to these devices. They have lightweight but strong aluminum and durable leather for touch points, along with steel cable to activate the head mechanisms. Both grabbers are designed to pick up small and heavy objects.
For us these grabbers were an exploration into creating functional rugged designs with well engineered movable parts.
