The Moonj Grass project, Haryana
This project has been in collaboration with the Impact Edge Lab at the Srishti School of Arts, Design and Technology, non-governmental organisations - READIndia and Sankul and my teammates Nayanika Sharma and Purva Bhuwnesh.
The project has been centred around the villages of Chhainssa, Swamika, and Bhigawali in the Palwal district of Haryana, India. At heart of the project lies our goal of creating social Impact through design thinking and business design.
We aim to setup a social enterprise where these women can be guided towards becoming entrepreneurs and empowered through their work as true artisans.
My findings from the market and customer research I conducted inspired me to work on small scale furniture. I designed and created a range of furniture pieces such that it falls in line with customer needs, be in sync with the market and also be within the capability of the artisans.
