Prakash Energy Producing Lantern
The goal of this semester-long project is to empower Rural Indian families, living in off-electrical grid areas, with a system of charging a cell phone and illuminating an area. With inspiration in the area of thermoelectric generators, and researching the models established by companies like Tellurex and Biolite, the group was to create a working prototype and take it on a month long trip all over India testing it with the chosen user group. If the model could show a viable alternative for charging a cell phone and providing illumination, it was a success.
