This project was an exercise in redefining the classic skate lid shape, volume & fit, while also adding a fit system to keep the helmet stable while airborne. It began with Allen Cooke's request for a more stable BMX helmet that would stay in place during intense riding. Sketches quickly moved into 3D. Numerous full size prints were created to evaluate fit, thickness, aesthetic details, and to define the fit system arm range and location. Blending the classic skate look with new-school comfort and technology. This re-tuned shape fits closer, looks smaller, and stays in place when you need it most.
