tetraskin
TU DELFT | An adaptable building skin system was developed as a transformable mechanism that would allow modular units to adjust their function based on environmental stimuli. based on cell differentiation, the design was taken from concept to full scale, and fully functional, prototype.
Lumen sensors would activate a regulated driving system to rotate the unit, exposing photovoltaic cells to absorb sunlight and provide shade. alternatively, reduced solar exposure causes rotation to a set of glazed panels, allow more light to penetrate.
Each unit is self contained via a tensegrity cell, and a script was developed that would allow these cells to populate any surface.
