BALL-NOGUES STUDIO | 327 stainless steel spheres sized 300, 400, and 500mm are welded together and suspended from a parking structure wall above a sidewalk in downtown Santa Monica. to create the organic form, a formwork was made so that the spheres could aggregate naturally. this was examined and tested digitally. the formwork was constructed of CNC cut plywood ribs, all derived from the parametric model. the ribs were assembled and then skinned to form a smooth surface. custom tabs connected spheres, and the entire assembly was transported to the site and lifted into place.
