A desktop environment that can help product designers save time and work more efficiently and effectively. We continiously do this, but sometimes end up looking for that one book or paper. Quickly sorting documents on importance and adding notes with a marker: the desk provides everything so you can do those actions quickly.
Or when designers are staged doing reasearch, the screen you would use for CAD or during sketching as an underlayer, can now also be used as a moodboard or for keeping references.
But by not designing for ornamentation, but designing for optimal functionality, I think you can create an essentially functional product. I think in 2015, with maybe a form of saturation in furniture-design and yes, an economic crisis, we need way more products like trigger empathy, products that are more leaning towards functionality, instead of ornamentation.
