Grand Beach Sandcastle Competition - Grade 12 This is a poster to be reused every year to advertise the Grand Beach Sand Castle Competition in Manitoba. I still don't have the names of the sponsors for the poster yet so I just filled it in with placeholder text. The colors I chose have a beachy feel so it makes the event seem fun and relaxed.
Red River Ex - Grade 12 For the first, I decided to do a poster for the Red River Exhibition. I wanted it to be bright and fun because "The Ex" is a fun place. I incorporated the Red River Exhibition grounds' logo but changed the colors around to match those in the image. The font I chose is bold and grabs your attention. I chose yellow for the roller coaster image to portray cheerfulness and playfulness. I wanted a clear blue background to look like the sky, and I used a really bright shade of blue for this.
Air Show - Grade 12 My next poster was for the Winnipeg International Air Show. I used a photo instead of an illustration because I think in this case that it portrays an air of professionalism. An event like this, although fun, also relates to history and learning. I chose to use a plain white font so as not to distract away from the image but to still get the message across.
Kite Festival - Grade 12 The last poster is for the Winnipeg Family Kite Festival. I used a very simple image of a kite blended into the similarly simple background. One edge of the kite and most of the bows on the tail have incomplete lines that blend into the background. The eye completes these lines without them actually being there which helps the whole poster flow together. The plain font gets the message across and is the main focal point of the poster.
