Client board - Costumes for Dance Festival promoting Japanese Tourism
Mood Board
Memories of the collection - Few pictures taking during the process
Ensemble-1 - Ensemble inspired by the 'opening of a fan'. As the model raises her arm, the colors of a rising Sun shines, showing the beautiful painting of a Geisha. The painting is done by me.
Ensemble-2 - A garment with detailing of the 'Kimono'. The fan-like collar and the origami belt is detachable.
Ensemble-3 - The skirt is made of innumerable hand-made fan structures. The fabric is first cut and ombre-dyed and then pleated to form fan-like structures.
Ensemble-4 - For a bouncy movement of the costume, the skirt is made of layers of rolls. It is rolled using cans, with a Japanese embroidered fabric showing from beneath. Top is made of ombre-dyed pleated fabric and waistline is tightened by smocking.
A skirt inspired by the functionality of Japanese Umbrella. It has a bamboo cane structure inside, similar to that of the Umbrella, which helps the skirt to open up when the model raises her hands. The skirt is adorned with innumerable origami flowers (all han-made by me) and some hand-painting too.

University Graduation Collection - 'Reflections of a rising sun'

My graduation collection at NIFT (National Institute of Fashion Technology), inspired by the Geisha of Japan.
The collection tells the story of a day in the Land of Rising Sun, with colors flowing from Yellow of dawn light to the Pitch Black of night.
Incorporating elements of the Japanese life like the hand-painted fans and origami techniques, I have experimented with a lot of new techniques and fabrics.
