raffine Logo - The development of the mark for this fictional gourmet candy company began with four key words for the brand: fun, flavor, gourmet and sophisticated. The name raffine translates from the French for "refined". Developed from the key words, the logo was based on patterns of candy, candy shapes and the abstractions of these shapes. The loose strokes give the impression of delicacy and playfulness, while at the same time referencing candy itself.
raffine Stationery - In the stationery, the brand was extended with the concepts of strong but organic lines, color, pattern and delicacy. The feeling of opening a package of candy became central to the pieces, including the pattern on the interior of the envelope and the fold of the business card. Overall, the stationery for raffiné reflects the company’s four keywords while bringing in new visual elements such as the circle pattern, secondary colors and new typefaces.
raffine Graphic Standards Manual - Continuing to expand the raffine brand, a graphic standards manual was designed, based on the identity principles previously developed with the logo and stationery system. The book was printed on french-folded pages, the interior of which were printed with the brand's patterns. The pages were then spiral bound and placed inside a hard cover. This gave the book the same feeling of opening a package of candy as seen in the other pieces, while creating a functional manual for the company.
raffine Packaging - The brand identity was extended into packaging.
Good Neighbors Logo - To create a logo for a fictional child care center in suburban Pittsburgh, simple forms and typography were combined in a mark geared specifically towards the target clients. The naming and concept of the logo was based off of the idea that parents wish to leave their children in the care of people who are just like family, or good neighbors.
EOS Airlines Logo - The letterforms of the EOS Airlines logotype were achieved through hand manip-ulations of the Helvetica Condensed typeface. The geometric quality of the letters was transformed into an elegant and kinetic statement, the relationship of the letters within the mark itself resulting in a logo that reflects flight, while maintaining elegance and strength.
EOS Airlines Stationery - The application of the logotype to the stationery system used condensed forms from Helvetica to relate to the typeface from which logo was built. Careful consideration was given to where the information should be placed, based on where the elements of the letter would be set by employees. The cream color of the identity was incorporated to highlight the logo placed asymmetrically within the color band to create a dynamic and unique solution.
EOS Airlines Livery Design - The logotype application on the livery became an investigative process to find a striking way to display the logotype and the airline's branding character. A combination of a black logo reversed out against a cream background is a unique color combination, as no airline currently uses cream in their color configuration. The addition of a warm grey tapering stripe against the tail decoration visually aids the transition from cream to white to created a dynamic and unique livery design.
EOS Brand Identity Process Book - The final element of the brand identity was the creation of a process book that displayed the work of each student in the class. The grid, typographic and graphic systems used throughout the book were developed as a team to create a consistent and informative book about the design process for the class.
