I carved this little thing purely for the fun the of it using a few pieces of birch wood I liberated from my grandma's firewood pile. Took me around three weeks working on some evenings and a few hours an occasional Saturday, which is actually faster than I expected. These sorts of projects always take way longer than I would think since I don't have a dedicated workspace and use only minimal tools. I made this in my kitchen. The face is carved from a solid block of wood and each of the curly bits is sawed from a board and later glued on after some further carving.
