Non-Invasive Vital Monitoring of Pediatric Oncology Patients
This conceptual project was carried out for the Dutch Center for Child Oncology (Nationaal Kinderoncologisch Centrum, NKOC) which is to become the largest childhood oncology center in Europe. The project focused a great deal on understanding family and patient centered care. This resulted in the development of a non-invasive, pain-free system for monitoring a child’s vitals while undergoing treatment at the hospital.
The central focus of the project was also to reduce the workload of the nursing staff while integrating family centered care principles in the new hospital. This was achieved for the project by creating an automatic vital monitoring system giving the nursing staff more time for one on one patient and family care.
