We had to select a story from a set of 4 to create a series of editorial spreads that are 9x10.85in. I choose the article about Howard Hughes, who designed and built the fastest plane of the time period. So I decided to make the spreads look like sketchbook pages complete with industrial design style drawings. The illustrations show the progression of his work on the plane and then after he flies it and sets the speed record he abandons it.
