After studying the Leather Craft (Zari work) with the local native artisans of Kutchh, I found out that there was a lot of scope for design interventions. Many people who came to visit as tourists though liked the products, but hesitated to buy due to lack of space to carry them, or because the products were a bit expensive. For the frequent visitors, these products were common and were not attractive as the products were monotonous, leather was used sparsely with limited colors and only one side of the leather was given importance.
Keeping these things in mind, I designed products that were small in size, travel friendly, required less Zari work (hence reduced cost) and new products like mobile for children to break the tradition yet being contemporary at the same time.
