Slot Ad is a new mobile Ad format that can be very engaging while being subtle and non-invasive to our Yahoo Mobile users. The Ad effectively becomes the background of the App but the App's content will leave a fixed sized slot or window open through which the user can see only a portion of the ad almost teasing the user. The slot moves over the Ad revealing other portions of the Ad when the user scrolls the content. If and when the user clicks the slot hovering over the Ad the entire Ad is revealed. To implement this Ad format we have integrated the Yahoo's Mobile Ad SDK (YAdSDK) with Homerun App but it can be implemented easily with apps like Yahoo Mail App that have scrollable content. YAdSDK is used currently for monetizing Yahoo's mobile native apps like FantasyFootball App on iOS and Android.
The Ad format is quite scalable as it is a can be a simple full page image Ad scheduled in our Ad Systems like APT which can potentially be extended for PC web as well as the mobile web.
