01 POUL WEB CANVAS Studying and understanding the beautiful textures and patterns as seen in the paintings and putting them for real into surface and fabric development. The colors and scenes as beautifully depicted in the paintings are the inspiration for my product.
The product is a combination of patch work, applique and quilting. The jacket is made out of cotton block prints, essentially living up to the colors and patterns from the paintings.
02 LAND OF COLORS Folk, culture, music, desert, clothing, everything form the land can be admired. Rajasthan, in all it's glorious facets be it the traditional fabrics or the turban, the streets, or even the old doors and windows, makes quite an interesting story.
03 THE ART FROM GOND For this art, the subject matter extends from myths and folklore to images of daily life-not only from what exists but also much that is drawn from dreams, memory and imagination. The most distinctive element that is the signature pattern for infill, is the major key feature in my work.
04 REFLECTION Light is known to behave in a very predictable manner. But creating that surprise element through the use of layers was the challenge in this assignment. Using materials that allow light to pass through yet with a twist.

Surface Design

While working on surfaces, I draw inspiration from many objects, theories, dreams, colors and crafts. India, being the land of crafts gave me an opportunity to know, discover and understand the skills and technicality of these crafts, for me to unwind them and come up with a lot of unique results. The fresh pieces thus derived is not only different but also holds the core of every individual art. Playing with transparency and opacity, is one of my favorite aspects. These two simple features can take the fabric surface to a whole new level. Sometimes even the most simplest of paper cut techniques and 3D paper art when manipulated in fabric can bring out the most unexpected results.
