Emergency Shelter

P9 shelter is a modular structure, It is easy to transport and assemble.
My goal was to design a structure as strong as possible, but in the same time paying attention on ergonomics and the weight. It is important to exclude the excess spaces like in many dome structures, because there are not economical to heat in colder climates. I’ve chosen a more resistant structure based on triangles, which are the most stable geometric shapes. The structure is simple without excess weight or sophisticated mechanisms.

One P9 shelter unit is composed of 3 modules, which can host 3x9 persons. The structure (without the fabric) can be fitted in 3 steel tubes, which are the fireplaces in each module. The fireplace can function with liquid or solid fuel. Each unit is equipped with a bathroom. Unites can be combined together, building a colony. The height of a module is 240 cm (with chimney 280 cm); the base is 480x480 cm. The hardware can be packed in a 150 cm long and 30 cm diameter tube.
