The IGBC Green Design Competition 2012 – Green Cities
Guidelines:
- Population around 1 million
- Could choose to design a new city being proposed in India or could choose to redesign and suggest ideas to green existing cities
- Social equity will be the basis of the city that you design. All economic strata of the society need to be considered
- Address biodiversity in all its forms
- The city should address quality of life issues : Connectivity with nature, Basic amenities, Commuting, Availability of basic needs like water & energy, Pollution issues, Hygiene, Health, Community living, etc.,
- Let it be a self-sustaining one whose carbon footprint is minimal and one that is not a burden on the environment or on society, particularly on certain segments of society
