Topic: Sustainability analysis of academic buildings: a case study
It discus about the resource consumption analysis of a real life of academic building and suggests the ways of increasing its sustainability. These measures include conservation and management of water resource, increasing energy efficiency, decreasing heat load by applying various techniques, which together can contributes in reduction in air conditioning load as much as up to 40%. The paper also offers ideas on using simple yet innovative finishes for the roof, rainwater harnessing for reuse, micro-climate techniques etc. for the case-study and assesses their energy saving potential. Shifting to renewable source of energy like solar energy and ‘green’ wall on the external facade to serve as a bio filter and noise absorber are some more case-specific solutions discussed in the paper.
