The stark contrast between the heart-wrenching reality and the surrealistic charm of Afghanistan inspires me. In an attempt to emphasise this age-old disparity, I have tried to blend the opposites. The soft hand of pure silk is combined with raw silk and double jersey fabric. The pointelle structure and the simplistic hand embroidery render a subtle texture and delicate appearance. All the fabrics have been tea-dyed, imparting a modest and elegant candour.
