The Kalisizo Post Test Club Basket - After being part of 2 Design-, Health- & Community workshops at Makerere
University, where I also did some lecturing, I identified a group of artisans that had an extreme energy, a will to create & most importantly a weaving technique of the unique kind. These women teamed up as the Kalisizo Post Test Club after being tested for HIV at the Kalisizo Hospital. The group meets regularly to discuss their last basketry as well as other more important matters of life.
The Kalisizo Post Test Club Basket - The members are mostly HIV positive and / or single moms, producing craft after their daily duties as housewives to make their income.
The Kalisizo Post Test Club Basket - We started out with a series of workshops, emphasizing on them being creatively responsible of their own baskets instead of copying the ones already on the market, rationalize the technique / material usage & standardize the products for mass production. The project is completed as a collection of 3 baskets in various sizes, all with a unique design. The collection comes in 2 colourschemes & is sold through NAWOUs web page :

The Kalisizo Post Test Club Basket - Small-, middle- & big size
The Kalisizo Post Test Club Member - An incredible group of women!
The Kalisizo Post Test Club Basket - By weaving with a more transparent technique, the women made twice as much baskets compared to when they use the traditional more dense technique.
The prize on the marked is the same, meaning the women could double their profit in general.
The Kalisizo Post Test Club Team - Because the making of a video manual was part of my project description, the entire product development process was recorded & assembled in a visual documentation tool for NAWOU or others who wish to replicate a similar project later on.
