Single necklace - Spending time with the Tulibawanguzi W. A. observing, recording & analyzing information about the product development processes / skills used within the group, I identified their insufficient use of resources as a group. I realized there was much to be done in making the products more time-, cost- & material effective.
Double necklace - Analyzing their product lines & production methods, the bead jewelry came out as the most remarkable example : the women spend up to 5 days making one piece, which they can charge maximum 1 USD for at the local market. Being an industrial designer, this is no good way to spend valuable resources.
Single necklace in pairs - We rationalized the production with changing the design, now making 5 times as many items on the same amount of time & sold for the same sum of money. We also perfected the aesthetics to meet the European market, meaning sizes, colour schemes & concept as a whole.
Single bracelet - The result is a piece of jewelry that works as a modular system, meaning it has various functions / combinations due to the desirable usage & number of pieces. The collection is completed & will be sold through NAWOUs web page. The following 2 pages show the process towards a final collection, from trying out different functions, techniques, mechanisms, sizes, colours & details in general.
Triple bracelet
The collection as a whole - The colour scheme was decided after this years fashion trends, meaning there will be new colours every year
The collection - The jewelry can be bought from NAWOUs web page : http://www.nawouganda.org/ Read all about Design without Borders : http://www.norskform.no/
