Clamp Lamp

This is one of two lamps designed in a glass casting course. Both lamps were fabricated in collaboration with Zach Jenkins. Drawing inspiration from aesthetics and feel of bark, we decided to look to the origins of woodworking for form inspiration. This lamp clamps onto table using the mechanics of a hand screw clamp. While the form language of the lamp is exaggerated and heavy, the maple and glass provide a contrasting aesthetic lightness. The glass bark cantilevers over the desk, suspended under a frosted glass panel which houses four cool white LEDs.
