There is an unspoken competition in the climbing market, to produce the most lightweight item in a product category. It is a niche market in terms of sales, but provides powerful marketing opportunities for a brand.
The Nineteen G carabiner was part of my diploma-project and is the lightest carabiner in the world, without compromising strength or safety.
Complying with the standard specification for safety devices, minimising bulk without effecting load transmission figures, the Nineteen G’s clean, functional design is suitable for daily use. The Nineteen G was over 10% lighter than the current lightest carabiner on the market when it was released and broke the 20g barrier for the first time.
