Concept 1 - This concept involves the use of RFID technology to track the number of clothing items in a store as well as their locations. This will allow security staff to monitor stock levels and alert them to any unexpected drop in stock, i.e. when a tag is disabled.
The ability to view the location of stock will also help to monitor any suspicious movement around the store, in particular the exits.
This information could be viewed via a central computer or a portable unit as shown above.
Concept 2 - This concept involves the integration of RFID technology into clothing items such as buttons. This would make locating the tag much harder for shoplifters meaning it would be far harder for them to remove or disable. Also by making the tag part of the clothing item, its removal lessens the sell on value for shoplifters. This concept could be used in conjunction with Concept 1.
Concept 3 - This concept involves a cable that can be run through the sleeves of a garment and connected at the top, activating an RFID signal. If the cable is disconnected the RFID signal will be lost. This concept is likely to be used in conjunction with Concept 1.
An additional feature may be to add an alarm if the cable is disconnected
Concept 4 - This concept is aimed at the prevention of mass removal of items from a clothing rail. By replacing the traditional hanger loop with a 'hiking clip' style loop this will make it very difficult for multiple items to be removed at once.
Concept 5 - This is quite a basic concpet where the idea is that an extended bottom section of a hanger prevents an item from being concealed. This means that shoplifters cannot quickly remove an item from a shelf and hide it in a bag for example
Concept 6 - This concept also looks to prevent the mass removal of items from a rail. By forcing the alternation of hanger direction along the rail it should prevent shoplifters from simply grabbing multiple items and removing them from the rail.
A proof of concept model is required to validate this concept.
Concept 7 - This is another concpet looking at designing a rail to prevent the mass removal of clothing items. By stepping the hangers as shown above it should prevent shoplifters from being able to grab multiple items at once.
Again this concept needs validation from a 'proof of concept' model
