This movie is a part of a collaboration between the Dutch TU Delft and IDEO. The scenario focuses on the consequences of climate change on our food habits. We show how we can reduce the impact of climate change through changing our habits around food and what the future could look like if we start to change today. This video won the Design21 / IDEO Living Climate Change video challenge and u can watch it at http://livingclimatechange.com/videochallenge/
If we start to eat more local and seasonal food and less meat we will reduce greenhouse gas emissions significantly. In addition to this we believe that we need to pay more attention to nutrient loops in the future.
In future urban gardens there is a need for nutrients and by using local compost it is possible to create a local nutrient loop that is energy efficient and thus emits less greenhouse gases. In addition to using something that would otherwise be wasted we also reduce the use for artificial fertilizers, which means less energy usage and less greenhouse gas emissions.
