The challenge of the competition was to give an architectural form and function to a site which, give its prime location, has the potential to redifine the entire preception of the area. The lakes have the potential to become the urban focus of a completely different relationship between Dubai & Sharjah.New strategies may be envisioned in order to enhance a common strategy for the development of the waterfront areas of the two emirates. The area aspires to become the catalyst not only of sporadic and speculative inteventions, but of an overall general urban master plan for the future of the entire city.
