Sliding Indicator System

As an engineering co-op, I was given a project to design a device that would consistently measure the rollers of our wire bender.

My design uses one Mitutoyo digital indicator to measure the position of each roller. The indicator is mounted to an 80/20 linear bearing by a custom-made bracket. The custom bracket was designed using Autodesk Inventor, and it was 3D printed using a MakerBot Replicator 2. The bearing is then allowed to travel down the extruded aluminum track, and it can be fastened in place using a L-handle braking system. It is cost effective and easy to manufacture.
