Living Links provide practical help, information and support to persons bereaved by suicide. The service provides information and support across the following areas: the funeral, the inquest, entitlements, what to say to children and grief. The Living Links group in the midlands region of Ireland, had approached design students to create a campaign for them to build public awareness of the service they provide and to encourage those who may need help to make the call to them.
The strategy was to develop a campaign representing two opposite sides in contrast. The objective of this is to show that after losing someone by suicide there are two ways of living. The viewer should recognize and understand both meanings, the ‘sad’ and ‘happy’ one. These ideas are represented through the title and illustration splitted in two sides exploring antonym words and negative spaces. A quote was used to reinforce and to support the concept of the title. Three posters were created following the same strategy as a whole campaign.
