The J&B Met is an annual horse racing event in Cape Town that takes place in January. It is one of the high lights of the social calendar and is well attended by celebrities and the media and there is a different theme each year.
The theme for 2011 was 'Larger than Life'. We were asked to do the decor for two of the top hospitality tents: Fire, Steam and Ice and the Jet Lounge. The budgets were very limited but we managed to create a good enough impression to be used again for the 2012 J & B Met.
The theme for 2012 was 'Made Different'. This year we were asked to do 4 of the hospitality tents: Fire, Steam & Ice; Sunglass Hut; SABC (The local television network); and The Jet Lounge. We were also asked to assist with the decoration of The Village, the common outdoor space between all the tents. Once again we were faced with serious budget constraints the workload saw us setting up until an hour before the event started!
