Rust Dyed Textiles
Inspired from Asian landscapes, specifically the Yangste River, I was looking at how the water and earth met in this specific environment, and how landscape can change over time. It really struck me and gave me an overall feeling of contemplation and power. I went to create a montage of textiles that recreated this feeling of the ever-expanding realm of nature and the small or large presence of man within that. I went on to put this mentality in my process by really investigating my possibilities with materials. Creating my own surface and then dyeing it with natural elements emitting chemical reactions, I created hand made felt and dyed them with found metals to recreate this triumphant feeling that nature can bring to a human being and how man will be responsible for the destruction of this beauty.
