Djúpivogur lies on the peninsula between Hamarsfjörður and Berufjörður; the bay cuts into the peninsula from Berufjörður. The natural setting of this area is very different from the rest of the country. This area used to be the most valuable land in Iceland. The wealth of the land lies in the vast farmable land with masses of rock boulders, islands, and islets which produced a lot of wealth in eiderdown and birds.
Sker restaurant is a high end restaurant with a seasonal menu focusing on local produce. The interiors are inspired by the mass islets, rock boulders, and shores that characterize the area. The ever-changing color of the ocean that surrounds the islets and the flora in it, around it and above it with black beaches and birdlife, is an inspiration for the interiors.
