Kandís Café
Kandís or rock candy is made out of large sugar crystals and is relatively easy to make. Due to limited import in Iceland in earlier centuries, rock candy was often the only form of sweets available. Most often the rock candy was made by the local housewives.
Café Kandís is meant to embrace the hard working housewives of Iceland. Not only did they do the traditional household tasks but they also worked hard at making the lives of those around them more enjoyable. They did so by baking beautiful pastries, making Kandís, and telling stories. They also kept up the legacy of older generations by sewing old embroidery patterns, knitting and crocheting beautiful handwork.
