Are You Alive? - Themed piece showing opposites. I made this project with the idea of having many different themes. I hope that more than the main theme of Man and Machine comes off.
A reviewer wrote: Strong technique, but trying to do too much visually (I have to wonder if you were really trying to do all of those thing in terms of opposites since there were so many). The man-machine comes through clearly, but as discussed in class, many of the other layers do not seem to be present. Good visual contrast of hue to bring our attention to the electronics and the simple ground keeps all the focus on the hand. An aspect not mentioned in class is that it borders on cliche a bit - which is also why we do not see life-death... we see Terminator.

A reviewer had this much to say about the piece: The repeated character is a good digital reality (it may have been stronger without sunglasses so they all looked more similar). The distortions in the main glasses work well. Consistent shadows, clean edges, good overall contrast (though I wonder about the white areas all the way to the left and right). Interesting point of view -- and it adds strong contrast of scale.
REVISED: 3-17-2005 - Reflection noise added. Motion blur added to reflection. Shading around edges of reflection changed.
