Additive manufacturing – Prosthetic arm design

Project Brief: Design and 3D-printing of a prosthetic arm based on a parametric design

Designed a prosthetic arm based on the e-NABLE project using design tables in SolidWorks. This made the design parametric and provided the ability to be updated as per the requirements of the growing body. The entire part model was assembled and the assembly was validated for form and fit. DFMA concepts were applied to streamline the design requirements.

The design was 3D printed and assembled as a prototype. Additionally moulds of all the parts were designed and simulation was used to determine the maximum injection pressure for each mould. CNC codes were generated for parts using MasterCam to perform machining.
